“Hoy el mundo es digital, globalizado, la economía es digital, hay que darles acceso a los ciudadanos para que tengan dispositivos hacia el mundo digital. Para esto hoy en día tenemos las PC´S portátiles o de escritorio y la banda ancha que permiten transformar un país (…), hay que buscar diferentes estímulos para cada sector”, dijo Ricardo Olarte, Director Regional de Intel para Cono Norte de América Latina, en entrevista con MarketingActivo; quien además habló sobre las herramientas tecnológicas para algunos países latinoamericanos y sobre los nuevos productos que ofrece Intel.

El International Consumer Electronic Show 2010, se llevó a cabo del siete al diez de enero en Las Vegas. Este evento anual, reúne las industrias de telecomunicaciones, cómputo y electrodomésticos en donde se expone el desarrollo de la tecnología mundial. Intel participó en el evento ofreciendo a sus consumidores una nueva gama de procesadores Intel Core. Olarte explicó que el Core i3, Core i5 y Core i7, son los nuevos productos de Intel que brindan mayor capacidad para los computadores. Cuentan con la función Turbo Boost Technology, que permite a los procesadores trabajar de manera más efectiva. Así mismo si el computador necesita un menor esfuerzo, estos procesadores permiten ahorrar energía.

Olarte comentó que para Latinoamérica, Intel cuenta con una planta en Costa Rica, un centro de desarrollo de softwares en Argentina y un centro de pruebas en México. “Hay una infraestructura para hacer investigación de desarrollo de nuevos productos, y una parte importante de los ingresos anuales se dedica a colocar capital financiero y humano para hacer investigación, lo que importa es darle estos beneficios adicionales al consumidor”, añadió.

Por otro lado nuestro invitado señaló que en Costa Rica hay una penetración de tecnología importante, aunque no necesariamente está ligada con mantener una planta ahí. En Colombia, por ejemplo, el IVA es del 16% pero gracias a la eliminación del mismo para las computadoras, el mercado tecnológico ha crecido en los últimos tres años. Por su parte, Venezuela adquirió cerca de un millón de computadoras portátiles para niños, con el afán de incrementar la educación; y Panamá montó una red inalámbrica de acceso a internet gratis.

“Cada país está encontrando maneras para estimular el crecimiento de la adopción de tecnología”, dijo Olarte. Quien agregó que el Ecuador ha tenido niveles importantes de adopción de nuevas tecnologías en los últimos años, sin embargo la importancia radica en el crecimiento de la banda ancha. “Hay que hacer esfuerzos importantes para aumentar las ofertas desde el punto de vista, no solamente de calidad, sino de precio para el acceso a banda ancha en Ecuador. Una medida como la que tomó Panamá de tener una red nacional de internet gratis es una excelente medida, ya que permite tener contenido y llegada a nuevos mercados a través del internet, para pequeñas y medianas empresas”, indicó.
